A former police officer, Dean McGrath, has been found murdered inside a factory at Governor Road, Braeside.
Police have revealed he was killed on Wednesday evening. His relatives discovered his truck at the factory site on Thursday but his body was not found until Friday morning.
Two men, aged 45 and 47 have been charged with McGrath’s murder and faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
The distraught family of the slain ex-cop were present and faced their son’s murderers for the first time.
David Grierson and Craig Marshall, the alleged killers, did not apply for bail and will re-appear in court on Tuesday.
McGrath was a talented boxer and fitness fanatic and police are investigating his background since leaving the police force due to post traumatic stress in 2010.
