The locals of Enniscorthy were described as being in total shock today after news surfaced that local man David Walsh had been stabbed to death in Sydney, Australia.
The 29-year-old, and father-of-three, hailed from Wexford but had moved to Australia around 2014.
It is understood that he had originally been from the Moran Park area of Enniscorthy.
Johnny Mythen, a local councillor, told TheJournal.ie that the news has left the community in shock.
“We’re all just in a state of total shock,” Mythen said. “It’s sent ripples through the whole area. He was a decent, hard-working young chap from a decent, hard working family, who’ve been like that all of their lives.”
Mythen also said that Walsh was the father of three young girls under the age of 11, from a previous relationship, who still lived in Ireland.
“For something like this to happen so far away, it’s just so hard to get your head around,” the councillor added.
A number of tributes have been paid to Walsh, known affectionately as “Motcha”, on social media.
